Foreword

From the moment you are pregnant, your world is filled with DOs and DON'Ts and they are different depending on East and West (maybe North and South too!). Like it or not, people around you will generously share their opinions, ideas and occasionally experiences with you.

I am from the East and my husband is from the West, and we have a FUSION BABY. She is seven months old now and she is GORGEOUS! Of course I am NOT biased.

From pregnancy through to labour, confinement and now weaning, I was challenged and confused by the sometimes contradicting and occasionally complementary beliefs between the ancient eastern wisdom and teachings and the scientific western practices. As a scientist myself, understanding the origins of these beliefs is of paramount importance. I need facts.

The purpose of this blog is to create a compilation of my personal journeys, and to encourage discussions among new mums faced with similar situations. Hopefully this will allow us to overcome dogmas of different cultures, and to merge the important facts and philosophies for the greater benefits of our Fusion Babies.

When East meets West, it's when you create something - ‘东西’('object' in chinese)
